Golden Anniversary
Fr John Cooper OFMCap joined the Postulancy in February of 1969, at the age of 22. He started his novitiate during 1970 and was professed as a Capuchin on the 31st of January 1971, together with Fr Julian Messina OFMCap. Therefore, this Sunday, they will celebrate their 50th Anniversary as Capuchin Friars.
While Fr Julian will celebrate his anniversary in Hawthorn (VIC), Fr John will celebrate his anniversary here in Leichhardt. On Sunday, he will celebrate the Italian Mass at 11:00 AM and share his vocation story with the Capuchin Young Adults/Professionals at 7:00 PM. You are most welcome to join. For further details, see page 3.
Covid-19 Update
The NSW Government has announced a further easing of COVID-19 restrictions on churches, which are in place this weekend. Places of worship will be allowed to have one person per four-square-metres with no maximum capacity.
However, at St Fiacre’s church, nothing will change as long as the NSW Government still applies 4m2 rules. Hence, the maximum capacity at St Fiacre’s church is still 100 people for all activities, including funerals and weddings. We will increase the number significantly after the Government gives further relaxation to 2m2.
Masks are still compulsory, and NSW Health can impose a $200 fine on each individual failing to abide by this rule. – Fr Pio.
