Plenary Indulgence and Sacrament of Reconciliation

Plenary Indulgences

Welcome to St Fiacre’s Parish, Leichhardt! It’s lovely to see you in joy and a happy face.🙂 Yes, we should spread our happiness to everyone we meet. Also, we are so grateful that Pope Francis has decided to extend the Plenary Indulgence this year, which was usually only during 1-8 November. Therefore, everyone could get the Plenary Indulgence throughout November by doing these: (1) visiting the cemetery on any day in November and praying fervently for the faithful departed, (2) visiting the church/oratory and devoutly reciting the Our Father and the Creed, (3) receive Holy Communion at Mass and get the Sacrament of Confession, and pray for the Holy Father’s purposes. The Pope’s intentions are:  “We pray that by the virtue of baptism, the laity, especially women, may participate more in areas of responsibility in the Church” (October), or “We pray that the progress of robotics and artificial intelligence may always serve humankind.” (November). Let us use this opportunity to obtain a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Next Monday, 9th November, twenty-five children in our Parish will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time in their lives. Let us pray for them and their parents that this Sacrament will be a blessing to them. Also, I would like to say thank you for your patience with the different arrangements required this year because of the pandemic. May God, who has started his great work, he will also continue it until eternity. – Fr Pio.
