Sacrament of Confirmation on Monday and Tuesday, 75th Anniversary of the Presence of the Capuchin Friars, and CWF Appeal

Sacrament of Confirmation on Monday and Tuesday

The long-awaited time has finally arrived, after being postponed last year. Next week (Monday and Tuesday), our Parish will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. As a communal celebration in the Parish, I invite you to pray for our confirmands and their families. May God bestow the Holy Spirit upon them so that they may be witnesses of Christ in the world and be a blessing to the Church. Also, we pray that this celebration can take place safely, orderly, and smoothly.

Furthermore, I want to express my gratitude to our catechists and teachers for their beautiful supports. Amid the difficulty during the lockdown in the past months, they have faithfully guided our children in their preparation. Our Parish is fortunate to have them on board – so, thank you so much! Now, I would like to take this opportunity to invite those who are interested in becoming a catechist in our Parish. Please do not hesitate to contact the parish office via email (fiacre@capuchinfriars.org.au). We are happy to hear from you and assist you in this journey of serving our Lord, Jesus Christ!

75th Anniversary of the Presence of the Capuchin Friars

Next weekend, we will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Presence of the Capuchin Friars in Leichhardt. Unfortunately, until this time, gatherings after Mass is still not recommended. The Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Sydney, Fr Gerald Gleeson, mentioned this in his recent communication on 11th November because “they (gatherings) are not sufficiently connected to the concept of ‘worship’ to be encompassed by the regulations permitting gathering for people regardless of vaccination status.” Therefore, related to this, our focus in this thanksgiving ceremony is the Holy Mass. Even though we cannot celebrate it in a big way, our Parish will give small awards to individuals who have contributed significantly to our Parish, both in physical and spiritual ways. Therefore, at the Sunday Mass at 9:30 AM next week, our Parish will present small gifts for these extraordinary people. Our Parish is so grateful for your contributions; thank you!

CWF Appeal

I invite you all to support the Charitable Works Fund (CWF) this weekend. Our Archdiocese is working very hard to help those most vulnerable and struggling in our community, such as Aboriginal Catholic Ministry, CatholicCare, Chaplaincy services for university, hospital, and prison, Ephpheta Centre, and Seminaries. PLEASE, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! Would you please give generously? We believe that God will repay you as written in Proverbs 19:17. You can find special envelopes at the church foyer. Alternatively, you can donate online here: www.ourfaithourworks.org/cwf. Thank you so much! – FrPio.
